Google Photos Implements Direct Messaging for Faster Photo Sharing

Google announced today that it will add a direct messaging feature in its Google Photos app. This will make it possible for its users to share images and videos to family and friends regardless of exiting the app or creating a shared album.

According to the Google blog, Janvi Shah, Product Manager of Google Photos explains, “This gives you one place to find the moments you’ve shared with your friends and family and keep the conversation going. For me, this means I can show my mom and dad how my pumpkin pie turned out in just a few taps.”

The GIF illustrates a “few taps” by sending one-off photos and videos to another Google Photos user.

He also adds, “This is gradually rolling out over the next week and, as always, you can share these photos with your friends and family across all platforms—Android, iOS and the web—without any loss in image quality from the photos you backed up.”

With that said, be sure to update your Google Photos app on Android, iOS or the Web version by next week to give it a go.
